VMM-263 The THUNDER CHICKENS of New River MCAS commissioned AZ to create their first Mascot for their new aircraft – the MV- 22 Osprey. They let us have some fun with this one and the result was this strong, low-viz grey chicken carrying the traditional thunder bolts of their squadron insignia. In addition to reproducing their 'Blue Eagle' Squadron Patch, a desert deployment version of the patch was also ordered with matching nametags. For their historic deployment to Al Asad AB, we designed their 2 inch patch shaped commemorative challenge coins and t- shirts. New for 2008-2009, VMM-263 (REIN) ordered these new ONE TEAM- ONE FIGHT composite shirts and Commemorative Coins for the upcoming historic first Chop-to-the-MEU. Also, the Skid Shooters attached to VMM-263 REIN checked in to order their own customized 263 Blue Eagle patch sporting 2.75 rockets. To show support for the Ground Forces Element the Skid Shooters are wearing these 3/2 Marines BN patches. One of the most successful and least recognized missions for the MV-22 is CASEVAC. Hands down it is the fastest battlefield combat MEDEVAC to date. We were proud to create this simple shoulder patch for these specialized crews. The patch is shown over a released DoD photo from the USS Bataan on Det from a recent sea to shore mission landing on foreign soil.
This documentary has exclusive access to the squadron and the aircraft, which is an innovation in modern flight. It goes behind closed doors into secret planning sessions, joins the pilots in the cockpit and flies with infantry assault teams to go on the Osprey’s first missions in the distant and desolate deserts of Iraq. It features footage not seen in any other coverage of the Osprey or the war in Iraq. Shot in HD, the film reveals how the Osprey V-22 can carry troops three times as far and go twice as fast. It is a weapon the like of which has not been seen on any battle field before now. How well it fares in the harsh reality of warfare is revealed up close and personal in this exceptional documentary. << Click on the DVD Dox Image to goto Mackenzie Productions and the order page.
CONGRATULATIONS TO B CO 3-126TH FOR A SUCCESSFUL DEPLOYMENT! B Co. 3-126th AVN "Chesapeake Hookers" are a heavy lift CH-47 Squadron out of Maryland and were deployed to OEF, Bagram AB Afghanistan. The demanding terrain makes the Chinook the best suited aircraft for these operations. Quoting the Hookers' 1SG "You don't get noth'in around here without a Chinook!" Adopting the call sign KONG to go with their OEF theme, the shirts are rock tour style listing FOBs - some hotter than others and denoted with bullet holes...We also designed their new unit patch, deployment patches, zaps and patch shaped coins and command coins for this deployment. President Karzai was flown on KONG Air and was treated to AZ KONG goodies - check out The President with our patches and zaps. We have it on good authority that President Karzai is a big fan of our CH-47's and was really nice to the crews. Today, "The World Famous Chesapeake Hookers" - AKA KONG, are home at Aberdeen MD and are the proud recipients of the Quad-A National Guard Aviation Unit of the Year 2008.

V-22 OSPREY FACTORY SUPPORT

OEF - HEAVY LIFT OPERATIONS KONG passed the CH-47 torch to B Co. 1-126th AVN (The Gold Diggers) and B Co. 6-101st AVN (The PACHYDERMS). Following in the pinup foot steps of the now notorious KONG, Gold Diggers and the Pachyderms commissioned custom art for shirts, hoodies, patches and zaps that will have them looking sharp at Bagram. For Thanksgiving 2008, the PACHY's ordered these J-Bad mascot shirts and hoodies in squadron colors and desert.
The ZAPPERS of VAQ-130 are about to celebrate 50 years of electronic warfare in 2009. "WE CAN HACK IT" is the theme. The Zappers commissioned us to restore their Robbie mascot art and produce these squadron patches and the 50 Year commemorative patch. 2009 is scheduled to be the last Prowler Cruise for 130 before transition to the new EA-18G.

The WARLORDS 6-101st GSAB are part of OEF providing air support in their UH-60 Blackhawks. The Warlords commissioned this pinup style shirt with their theme "Don't Worry, We Got It". Another extreme skull style shirt carries their Vietman Era 'Felix' patch on the front.
The Hog Drivers of the 103rd PANG commissioned us to create an Angry Pegasus version of the squadron patch and an updated version of the A-10 classic "UGLY" patches. We're happy to have worked with one of the few Hog units remaining. PANG has deployed several times and there is little doubt that, though too few of the species exist, the Hog remains the hands down favorite in the FAS community.
The TOPHATTERS of VFA-14, the "Oldest and Boldest", are celebrating their 90th Anniversary in 2009. The U.S. Navy's oldest active squadron, established in 1919, is now stationed at Lemoore NAS. 23 planes, 12 wars, 25 aircraft carriers, 18 air wings, 16 confirmed kills, 90 years of excellence. The Tophatters contacted us to design and produce their History Shirts, F/A-18E Rhino Shirts, and 90th Anniversary patches. We also submitted the design and vector art for the 90th Anniversary CAG livery paint scheme that the Tophatters will be taking on cruise soon. There were several evolutions of the design and the CAG, Skipper and Crews settled on this aggressive red version of the classic 'dinner plate' Tophat. The goal of this livery was to get the famous Bogan Tophat as loud and proud as the SH rudder would allow - now called the 'Red Spotlight' version of the classic 'Dinner Plate'. The canopy frame is black and 14's red flash underscores their designation on the black backbone. There is also a small Tophat below the lex, and in the same location as their earlier WW2 aircraft, to commemorate the most successful kill period in their history - aboard USS Ranger during the invasion of North Africa, near Casablanca. Also submitted were some nice matching black slogan drop tanks that might get added on cruise. Whether taxiing the active at Lemoore or on the deck of the USS Nimitz, there's no mistaking to whom this F/A-18 Echo Super Hornet belongs.

VARSITY 7 - FIRST CH-47F COMBAT DEPLOYMENT The newest airframe in the legendary Chinook line goes right to work in OEF with VARSITY - 7th Battalion-101st. Sporting new AZ VARSITY patches, Toby put on a great show for the troops!
